What is Social and Behavior Change?

Social and Behavior Change (SBC) is a proven, systematic and evidence based process that aims to bring about lasting and impactful change to individuals and communities. Through Social and Behavior Change Communications (SBCC), we pass on important knowledge through a narrative that resonates with an audience, evoking imagery, triggering emotions, sentiments, and physical responses.

SBCC approaches have formed the basis for behavior change interventions for many years in the health sector (influencing uptake of health services, counseling among others). In recent years other sectors such as agriculture, education, governance, environment, road safety and financial services have begun to appreciate the central role of SBC in influencing consumer behavior and creating demand for products and services.

Over the last five years, CLC, has embraced the power of Social and Behavior Change Communications (SBCC) through various community media platforms and experimented with several innovative technology-enabled behavioral change communication techniques to change sexual gender related behaviors and social norms.

By harnessing SBC theories and approaches we have been able to successfully execute social and behavior change interventions in health, agriculture, education, financial services sectors and seeds systems. We are developing interventions for other sectors such as road safety, manufacturing, tourism and wildlife, governance, environment, democracy, gender and child protection among others.
